A stable connection between your email client and email server depends on the syncing of your IMAP folder.

Make sure they are the same if you can’t see them look at the number of stars or dots. Look at the mail server settings boxes for password and port settings they’re the ones you need to delete and reapply. Doing a send and receive manually or waiting on the scheduled send and receive on the client does not update new mail items.

Furthermore, when calendar invites are accepted using the Outlook client, they disappear from All Mail and go into the Trash folder, but when using WebMail, they remain in the Inbox. I have seen this disparity for years across different Outlook client versions and Windows versions. I also posted on FixTechGuide fix for stuck folders the Gmail subreddit about a year ago.

I have several email accounts / IMAP set-up. So looking at my tree of Office 365 sync problems and login fixes email accounts one inbox might have 10 mail total and 3 unread form earlier. It's not until I click on that folder I will then see the 10 and 3 and two second later it will sync and new ones will populate. The issue is; just looking at my email accounts and the numbers shown next to the folders I cant tell if there is new mail or not until I click on them.

Chosen solution

By web app, I mean webmail accessed via Firefox or Chrome for (say) Windows 10, not smartphone app. My comment about 3rd party email -- is a 3rd email app called Email - Edison Mail (from the App Store) I set up my mail accounts in the app and everything works as it should. I’ve tried repairing the data file, removing and re-adding the account, rebooting, re-installing Outlook/Office, running SFC/DISM, all to no avail. Their webmail works fine, and when this account is added to the Windows Mail app, everything works perfectly. One word of warning - you shouldn’t set that interval to more often than maybe every 10 minutes, every 5 would be the absolutel minimum I’d set. If you set too often you run the risk that Outlook could start the next download before finishing the previous download and that could cause duplicate messages and other possible issues.

My accounts in Mail app stopped to sync post update

While these solutions work, there is are chance that it will happen again. To avoid that, you have to take some fix MFA prompts not working precautionary steps. Pit Stop - Most of our email accounts are for small retail location. We just use POP in those locations because they do not access their mail from any other device or location.

While outlook supports IMAP, it doesn’t really want to work with it, so not surprised you are having some troubles. My phone, which I have no problems with, is behind the same router/firewall as the PC on a regular basis. The issue persists with PC connected directly to the internet with no router or firewall in between.

  • Microsoft, gmail and other popular accounts should sync automatically, but if they don't, I'm inclined to think it's due to the VPN or a security/antivirus app that is scanning the TB profile folder.
  • I checked on web mail here it is.one account is configured on two computers, one is configured with POP & second is IMAP.
  • If you can go to another folder then right back to Inbox and suddenly see 100 new messages, they were there all along, they didn’t just magically appear in that second it took to switch back and forth.
  • Decided to just try completely removing my Gmail account, the one that wasn’t syncing with the Mail App after the iOS 18 update.
  • When you are accessing Gmail via the web application everything is hosted on Google's cloud servers.
  • Everything works great for the most part, except with our IMAP users.

Hence, the trashing of messages is registering on Gmail. It's just that the contents seem completely disconnected from what I see using webmail. All messages that were trashed in Outlook still appear in All Mail when accessed using webmail, even days later. From what I’m reading, this doesn’t actually appear to be an issue with receiving email, it’s an Outlook screen refresh issue, or possibly (although less likely) an issue with notification settings. If you can go to another folder then right back to Inbox and suddenly see 100 new messages, they were there all along, they didn’t just magically appear in that second it took to switch back and forth. Try attacking it from that angle and see what you find.

That’s why, here I am to help you in this situation by providing you with solutions. But, before that, let’s understand the cause of the issue. If I am sitting on my inbox and do a send/receive, no new mail will populate. The send and receive does not error, it looks to complete successfully. Doing a send and receive does not update the mail, and I have played with all kinds of settings in the send and receive groups but nothing seems to work.

We only have a handful of people who use the their email across multiple devices at the corporate office. Just a question - why not look at office 365? Mailbox only support is like $6 a month or less, and it is proper exchange, enabling better syncing etc. You should look at your Outlook desktop client settings to review the default synchronization schedule and tweak anything you can to get it to poll Google's IMAP servers more frequently. I access the IMAP servers from 3 different machines, and they all see the changes from each other. The problem is that the some changes are not reflected in the Gmail web app.
